Business
and professional people clearly recognize and validate
the
importance of communication by a search to improve their skills.
Effective communication skills are a desired commodity in today's
job market. The April 30, 2001 Wall Street Journal "Report
on the Top Business Schools" states that nine out of ten recruiters
said they consider communication and interpersonal skills very important.
Corporations
value such things as team-building, sales ability, presentation
skills, accountability, customer service, total quality management,
and 360 degree employee evaluations. That, and the increasingly
rapid changes in the workplace, make management acutely aware of
the importance of competent communicators. The seas of change are
best navigated by those who know how to ask for and give directions.
The
University of Chicago Graduate School of Business provides a Leadership
Institute to the Executive Program
MBA students who reside in Chicago for one week each summer. MEANINGFUL
MEASUREMENT, INC. conducts one of three educational
tracks. Persuasive Communication: Business & Professional Speaking
is designed to meet the professional person's needs by utilizing
proven teaching methods. This training was customized to address
the particular requirements of the Graduate School of Business students.
The
Scientific Method, cutting-edge measurement techniques, classical
pedagogy, and innovative teaching combine to make Persuasive Communication:
Business & Professional Speaking a unique experience. This training
goes beyond "soft skills" and brings Science into the
classroom. Precise measurement provides scientific documentation
of results, and turns a subjective situation into a quantifiable
one.
Results of the Leadership Conference
179 students in the 2001 Leadership Institute group and 78 students
in the 2002 Leadership Institute group responded to questions about
what they learned during the course with an overwhelmingly positive
reaction to the effectiveness of the training created by Meaningful
Measurement.
